The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy, and EBSIEC Matters has condemned the Coordinator of Edda West Development Center, Hon. Jacklin Onwubiko, for zero performance during an oversight visit to Development Centers in Edda Local Government Area.
Led by Hon. Goodluck Obinna Mbam, the committee expressed deep disappointment over the absence of meaningful projects in the area, stating that the purpose of Development Centers had been completely defeated in Edda West. The committee urged Hon. Onwubiko to take immediate action and implement projects that would positively impact the people.
At Edda East Development Center, the committee criticized the slow pace of work on the renovation of the burnt secretariat, advising the Coordinator to prioritize impactful projects.
However, at Edda North Development Center, the committee commended Coordinator Hon. Mrs. Cicilia Nkama Ude for her provision of pipe-borne water, construction of lock-up stalls, and maintenance of a clean secretariat environment.
Similarly, at Edda Development Center, the committee praised Coordinator Hon. Ajunwa Okoroafo for executing rural electrification, erosion control, and installing 75 solar streetlights across four wards.
In response, Hon. Cicilia Nkama Ude and Hon. Ajunwa Okoroafo thanked the committee for the visit and pledged to continue delivering democracy dividends to their people.
Earlier, the committee paid a visit to State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Barr. Chinedu Augustine Uburu, where Hon. Obinna Mbam revealed that some Coordinators were failing in their duties. He emphasized that capital projects remain a top priority under Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and called for greater accountability in the use of allocated funds.
In response, ALGON Chairman Hon. Chinedu Augustine Uburu welcomed the oversight visit, stating that it would enhance accountability and improve performance among Development Center Coordinators. He also praised Governor Nwifuru for ensuring that councils and Development Centers in Ebonyi State remain viable and functional.
