The Executive Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chief Euphemia Nwali, has warned opposition political parties and their supporters against engaging in political violence, thuggery, intimidation or any activity capable of disrupting peace in the area.
Nwali gave the warning in a press statement issued on Sunday, August 9, 2026, where she declared that her administration would not tolerate any form of crisis or political violence in the council.
She said, “I will not tolerate any form of political violence, crisis, intimidation, attack, thuggery, harassment or any act capable of disrupting the prevailing peace and security in Ezza South Local Government Area.”
The chairman specifically called on opposition political parties, their leaders, members and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and within the confines of the law.
According to her, political differences should not be allowed to divide the people, destroy lives, threaten businesses or create unnecessary tension across communities.
“Everybody is entitled to his or her political choice, and every political party has the constitutional right to carry out lawful political activities,” she said, stressing that such rights must be exercised with “maturity, tolerance and respect for the rights, safety and freedom of other citizens.”
Nwali warned that no political ambition was worth the loss of lives, declaring that she would not allow anyone, regardless of political connection or social status, to turn Ezza South into a theatre of violence.
“No political ambition or interest is worth the blood or life of any son or daughter of Ezza South,” she stated.
The chairman further disclosed that security agencies had been strategically mobilised across the council area to protect lives and property, ensure peaceful movement and enable residents to carry out their legitimate businesses without fear.
She warned individuals or groups planning to cause trouble, sponsor attacks, intimidate citizens or foment crisis to have a change of heart, noting that security agencies had been placed on alert.
“Our security agencies have been placed on alert to identify, arrest and bring to justice anybody or group found to be involved in any act capable of causing a breach of peace,” she said.
Nwali also declared that nobody would be allowed to operate above the law, irrespective of political affiliation, social status or position.
“Nobody is above the law,” she said, warning that anyone found threatening the peace of Ezza South would be apprehended and made to face the full consequences of their actions in accordance with the law.
She urged political leaders and stakeholders to caution their supporters against inflammatory statements, hate campaigns, provocation, thuggery and other acts capable of generating avoidable tension.
Nwali also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, youth and women leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to support her administration and security agencies in sustaining peace across the council.
She assured residents that they should continue with their normal and legitimate businesses without fear, while urging them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, planned attacks or other activities capable of causing a security breach.
“Ezza South belongs to all of us. We may belong to different political parties and hold different political opinions, but we are one people, bound by a common heritage and a collective responsibility to protect our communities and secure a better future for our children,” she said.
The chairman reiterated her administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging all residents to shun violence, respect one another and obey the law.
“Politics must not lead to bloodshed. Anybody who chooses to foment trouble or disturb the peace of our people will have the law to contend with,” Nwali warned.
