Liverpool Winger Luis Diaz’s Father Finally Released: Positive Outcome in Family’s Ordeal

Liverpool Winger Luis Diaz’s Father Released 12 Days After ELN Kidnapping

Luis Manuel Díaz Jimenez, the father of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, has been successfully released after enduring a 12-day kidnapping by ELN guerrillas in Colombia. Colombian media sources report that the 58-year-old is now safely in the care of a United Nations (UN) committee.

The release was facilitated through an agreement between a commission from the UN and the Catholic Church, which liaised with the ELN on this matter. Helicopters were seen circling the border area between La Guajira and Cesar, where the handover of Luiz Jimenez took place.

Footage captured the moment the helicopter, stationed at the Valledupar airport, awaited the transfer of the hostage to the UN committee in the Serranía del Perijá region. Only humanitarian workers and the helicopter crew were allowed on board, ensuring the safe transport of Diaz’s father to a hospital for a checkup following his harrowing ordeal.

Contrary to the Colombian government’s announcement on Wednesday that the operation to release Luiz Jimenez had commenced, it was on Thursday that Diaz’s father was finally freed.”
