The Ebonyi State Government has pledged to breathe new life into the Ebonyi State Transport Corporation (EBOTRANS), reaffirming its commitment during a recent sensitization visit led by Commissioner of Transportation, Hon. Prince Igboke Collins Emeka.

Addressing the management of Ebonyi State Transport Corporation (EBOTRANS), the Commissioner emphasized the government’s resolve to enhance EBOTRANS’s operations through collaborative efforts.

“This is my first visit to EBOTRANS headquarters, and I’ve observed both strengths and challenges,” Commissioner Igboke stated. “We will work closely with EBOTRANS management to address areas needing improvement. From what I saw, there are some challenges and some areas where they have excelled. We will discuss areas needing improvement directly with them.”

“We will also bring issues needing higher intervention to the attention of the state Governor, who appointed us. He is like a father to us, with a listening ear and a commitment to addressing our requests,” he added.

“I have asked the general manager to compile a list of vehicles in need of repair so that we can determine how the ministry and the Governor can assist,” he continued. “We will collaborate closely to ensure tangible improvements in EBOTRANS.”

The Commissioner assured EBOTRANS management of Governor Nwifuru’s dedication to transforming the transport sector, promising tangible improvements soon.

“We appreciate the Governor’s efforts thus far,” he continued. “With his support, we aim to reduce reliance on federal allocations and expand our influence across the nation’s 36 states. Governor Rt. Hon. Builder Ogboonna Nwifuru is truly a blessing to Ebonyi State, and under his leadership, we will see significant changes.”

Earlier, Dr. Simon Idenyi, expressed optimism about the commissioner’s proactive stance, noting, ” we have about 18 depots currently, we had 8 before but increased to 10 making a total of 18 depots, with your emergency as first commissioner for transportation in Ebonyi , I know you will do well to lift this place up”. He stated.

The corporation’s management also appealed to the government for new buses, removal of double taxation, and resolution of encroachment issues in EBOTRANS parks, among other pressing challenges.
