By Oluchi Ekwem

The Nigeria Police Force has declared a British national, Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich, and a Nigerian, Lucky Obiyan, wanted in connection with an alleged plot to overthrow the country’s democratically elected government.

This announcement was made on Monday, with authorities accusing Wynne of orchestrating a network of sleeper cells aimed at destabilizing Nigeria.

During a press briefing in Abuja, the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed that Wynne had rented a space at Labour House, where he established a school as a front for his subversive activities. Adejobi stated, “The Nigeria Police Force has launched an extensive investigation into the activities of foreign nationals and local elements conspiring to undermine Nigeria’s democratically elected government through unconstitutional means.”

The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have already arrested nine suspects who allegedly received substantial foreign funding to fuel unrest across the nation. Preliminary findings indicate that these individuals were involved in orchestrating and funding violent protests, spreading false information, and engaging in other unlawful acts aimed at creating an atmosphere of anarchy to justify their illegal plot.

Investigators have identified Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich, as a key figure in this scheme. Wynne is accused of building a network of sleeper cells, with the intent to disrupt the government and plunge the nation into chaos. The Labour House premises in Abuja served as the base for these operations, disguised as an ‘Iva Valley Bookshop’ and ‘STARS of Nations Schools.’

Documentary evidence and confessions have reportedly revealed that Wynne provided financial and operational guidance to his Nigerian collaborators, directing them to incite violence and target police and military installations. These actions, aimed at provoking a bloodbath and attracting international condemnation, are in violation of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 and other relevant laws.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that both Wynne and his local coordinator, Lucky Obiyan, have fled Nigeria. They have been declared wanted, and an international manhunt is now underway to bring them to justice.
