Former Real Madrid and Cameroon midfielder, Geremi Njitap, has ruled out any possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League, stating that the 40-year-old no longer has the physical capacity to cope with the league’s intensity.
According to the Cameroonian, the Portugal international can no longer meet the challenges of competing in the English top flight.
He said the league would be too competitive for the 40-year-old due to his age and reduced mobility.
Geremi went further to state that the Portugal captain will hang up his football boots after the 2025–26 season.
Ronaldo plied his trade for Manchester United across two spells (2003–2009 & 2021–2022).
In all, the veteran goalscorer has 145 goals and 65 assists to his name, achieved in 346 games across all competitions.
Ronaldo is yet to sign his new deal with Al Nassr, despite saying he would remain at the club, with his current contract expiring at the end of the month.
Geremi told BoyleSports, “His time in the Premier League is over. The Premier League is too demanding, he is 40 years old, and it wouldn’t be the same as doing it once in a while in international games. I think he’s going into his last year in football.”
Ronaldo scored 35 goals and provided four assists in 41 appearances across competitions for Al Nassr last season.
