Okposhi ward two councilor champions development

In a recent interview, Honorable Onwe John Onwe, the representative for Okposhi Ward Two in the Ohaukwu Council Area, discussed the community’s rich history, his personal commitment to service, and the progress being made in the region.

Comprising the Okposhi-Eheku and Ameku autonomous communities, Okposhi Ward Two has a significant place in the Ngbo clan’s history. The area is celebrated for its industrious people and strong emphasis on education, which has produced notable figures like the late Dr. Emmanuel Icha Ituma. Dr. Ituma, who held key positions including Deputy Governor of Enugu State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Australia, was a major advocate for higher education among the Ngbo people. The ward is also home to the very first secondary school in Ngbo, the Community Secondary School Okposhi-Eheku, established in the late 1970s.

Honorable Onwe shared that he approaches his role with diligence, humility, and sincerity, striving to serve his community with the fear of God. He believes his focus on promoting peace and order is already yielding positive results, creating a more harmonious environment for residents.

He expressed his gratitude for the development projects initiated by Governor Francis Nwifuru, noting that Okposhi Ward Two has directly benefited from the construction of two three-kilometer concrete roads and the renovation of the palaces of the two traditional rulers in the ward. He assured the governor of the community’s continued support for his leadership.

Onwe also commended Prince Ikechukwu Odono, the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, for his dedication to providing essential social amenities and infrastructure. He additionally praised the Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Chinedu Ogba Onah, for his ongoing efforts to combat harmful traditional practices in the region.

To conclude, Honorable Onwe advocated for a constituency allowance for councillors. He believes this financial support would better enable local representatives to meet the high expectations of their constituents and deliver on their promises.
