A Lagos based Auto Business Mogul and Managing Director (MD) and Chairman of Igwemac Autos Ltd, Chief Igwe Amechi Justus has reportedly escaped death by whiskers, following an aborted assassinated attempt made on his life by men of the underworld.
The victim, who is also a car dealer was brutally beaten by his attackers, stripped naked and left in the pool of his blood.
The incident, which took place some days after the new year, occurred at Onuzo-Nwezza Junction, almost at the border between Ebonyi and Enugu States.
The victim was said to have been waylaid while on his way back to his base as he encountered an armed robbery gang who had kept trail of his movements unknown to him.
His assailants, after leaving him with deadly injuries on his eyes and other vital parts of his body, robbed him of his valuables, which includes but not limited to a Samsung Fold 6 mobile phone valued at 1.6 million; monies – ( $2400 and over #400,000 cash ), expensive wrist watch and many other valuable assets yet to be fully confirmed.
An eye witness who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity revealed that the incident took place at about 5:30 p.m in the evening, near a particular local Market junction.
Giving an insight into the incident, the eyewitness stated that he noticed two cars, one of which is a Mercedes Benz, double crossed a 2015 RAV 4 conveying the MD and ordered him out of the car.
He continued: “And as soon as he stepped out of his car, a four man armed robbery gang, two of which had two pistols started beating the victim repeatedly while two of them inside the second vehicle jumped out with two strange weapons that looked like a metallic baton and jointly attacked him.
“The attack was so gruesome to the extent that some of us that were close to the scene of the incident fearfully watched cautiously from a distant corner while praying for help and external intervention.”
Another source who confirmed the ulgy scenario (names withheld) described the incident as a very horrifying experience to behold as the victim was seen battling for survival until sympathisers started gathering from a distance.
He hinted that due to the manner in which the victim’s attackers operated, one can vividly describe them as hired assassins.
“When the robbers noticed that people were making calls, probably for help, they rushed into the victim’s car, took some items believed to be his valuable properties and zoomed off in their vehicles.
“Meanwhile , as soon as the robbers left, some good spirited individuals rushed to the scene and took the victim in his pool blood to a nearby hospital, which rejected him because of the level of blood he had lost.”
Reports gathered at the scene of the incident revealed that the victim had been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Lagos, where he is currently being treated under Intensive Care Unit as he is closely monitored by medical experts to avoid any form of complications
