The management of Ebonyi State Transport Corporation (EBOTRANS) has disbursed over two million naira retirement benefits to former employees.
The Acting General Manager, Dr. Simon Idenyi, praised Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru for his effective leadership and commitment to the welfare of retirees, emphasizing the state’s supportive environment for growth and development.
Dr. Idenyi stressed the corporation’s dedication to settling all retirement benefits promptly, echoing Governor Nwifuru’s proactive governance.
“I am giving you this terminal benefit to help you in going back to your different home happily and never forget to visit the company. You have been part of our company family, and you are not just leaving us because we may sometimes need your help,” Dr. Simon Idenyi said.
“His Excellency’s charter of need mantra is what we borrowed to guide our actions. Currently, in Ebonyi State, those who have retired from 1996 until now have had their terminal benefits cleared by His Excellency, and that is what we aim to achieve in EBOTRANS. We do not want to owe anybody; no matter when you retire, we will clear it,” he stated.
He advised them to properly utilize the money, whether by investing in farming or starting a business that could benefit their families.
In a similar vein, Operational Manager Mr. Innocent Obiahu commended the General Manager’s leadership, highlighting EBOTRANS’ rapid progress under his stewardship.
Retirees Mr. Abraham Erebo and Mr. Moses Umeh expressed gratitude for the timely payments and called on the governor to further support EBOTRANS. They pledged ongoing loyalty and support to the corporation.
“We have seen progress since your assumption of office. New routes have been opened, and vehicles purchased within a short time. Your achievements are what some people accomplish in 10 years, but you achieved them in the shortest time because of how you manage this place.
“Our hearts are still here; anytime you need us, we will be at your service.”
