For Professor and Dr. (Mrs.) Adibe Nwafor, the surprise apostolic visit of the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, JP, to their home in Abakaliki was nothing short of a divine visitation—a historic milestone that will remain forever etched in their family’s history.

Professor Nwafor, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, expressed profound fulfillment at witnessing such an honour. As a dedicated member of the church, the academic described the visit of the prominent religious leader and his wife, Mrs. Maria Onyaidu Aba, who shared a meal with the family and their stewards, as a testament to God’s favour upon the faithful.

“My household and I are richly blessed by this manifestation of divine grace,” Professor Nwafor stated.

He called on relatives, professional colleagues, friends and well-wishers to join his family in thanksgiving, urging them to tap into the spiritual blessings associated with the historic visit.

The Prelate was accompanied by an esteemed delegation of church leaders, including the Most Rev. Christopher Nweke Ede of the Methodist Archdiocese of Enugu; Archbishop Chinwendu Igwe of the Methodist Archdiocese of Abakaliki; officials from the Methodist Church Nigeria headquarters in Lagos; diocesan priests; regional leaders; and women’s group leaders.

Reflecting on the profound nature of the visit, Professor Nwafor likened the experience to the biblical account of Zacchaeus, the tax collector who climbed a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus, only to be honoured when Jesus invited Himself to his home for a meal.

Echoing her husband’s sentiments, Dr. (Mrs.) Adibe Nwafor radiated visible joy as she magnified God for counting their home worthy of hosting the spiritual head of the church. She prayed for the continuous sustenance of God’s grace upon their household.

Reflecting on the magnitude of the occasion, she noted that, humanly speaking, it seemed improbable for the Prelate to visit their home, given the vast number of prominent personalities, high-ranking church members and government officials within the diocese.

Dr. (Mrs.) Nwafor expressed strong faith that the Prelate’s fervent prayers for Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large would yield transformative policies and a peaceful, successful electoral process in the coming year.
