Sowore unveils Digital Campaign App ahead of 2027 polls

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has launched a new mobile application, SoworeNow, as part of efforts to strengthen political mobilisation and engage supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The application is designed as a central digital platform through which supporters can receive verified campaign updates, register as volunteers, make donations, participate in campaign activities, and connect directly with the movement using their mobile devices.

Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the app was developed with the React Native framework, enabling cross-platform functionality while allowing room for future expansion.

The platform features user registration and login, a dedicated news section for campaign updates, volunteer management tools, event coordination, donation options, and personalised user dashboards.

It also includes a volunteer reward system that recognises supporters based on their level of participation in campaign activities, alongside a digital wallet infrastructure to facilitate fundraising for campaign operations.

In addition, the application supports real-time notifications to keep users informed about campaign events, announcements, and activities. It is also equipped with barcode-scanning technology that could be used for event check-ins, volunteer verification, and other campaign logistics.

The app incorporates branded onboarding screens and a dedicated notification system, reflecting a broader strategy to create an integrated digital community for AAC supporters.

Political analysts say the launch underscores the growing reliance on technology-driven campaign strategies, with political actors increasingly using digital platforms to mobilise supporters, coordinate volunteers, raise funds, and communicate directly with voters, particularly younger Nigerians who rely heavily on smartphones and social media for political information.

The launch forms part of Sowore’s preparations for the 2027 elections as political activities gradually gather momentum.

Speaking during the unveiling, Sowore urged Nigerians to join the movement through the platform.

“Fellow Nigerians, real change begins with action, and action begins with you; that is why we launched the ‘SoworeNow’ app,” he said.

“It is just one app where you can get verified campaign updates, join the rallies, connect with other supporters, and support the movement.”
