The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a circulating press release claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the notice as malicious and fake.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the board urged candidates and the general public to ignore the false information, stressing that the examination timetable remains unchanged.

According to the statement, “Our attention has been drawn to the malicious press release stating that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. The general public, particularly the candidates, are by this notice informed that the press release is fake and did not emanate from us. Kindly disregard it. All activities on the 2026 UTME continue as scheduled.”

JAMB had earlier announced that the main 2026 UTME is scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The clarification comes after the 2026 UTME Mock examination conducted on Saturday, March 28, experienced technical challenges in several Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country.

A total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, while 152,586 candidates successfully sat for the test across 989 CBT centres nationwide.

The board further disclosed that more than 20 CBT centres affected by technical issues have been delisted due to technical inadequacies.

In addition, JAMB warned candidates against fraudulent individuals and groups on WhatsApp who claim they can help inflate examination scores.

The board described such claims as false and criminal, warning that any candidate found engaging in such activities risks cancellation of registration or withholding of results.
