Governor Francis Nwifuru has commended the Chief Executive Officer of L&J Omego Investment Nigeria Limited, Chief James Ogba, popularly known as “Omego,” for his contributions to community development through the installation of electricity and streetlights as well as the construction of a major road in Amokwo, Okposhi-Eshi Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The governor gave the commendation during the commissioning of the projects held in Amokwo, Okposhi-Eshi Ngbo, an event which also featured the 90th birthday celebration of the investor’s mother, Mrs. Grace Ogba (Nwagbo), as well as the official re-opening of his newly built residential home.
Governor Nwifuru, who was represented by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa, expressed delight at the growing number of Ebonyi entrepreneurs contributing to infrastructural development in their communities and beyond.
He urged business leaders to continue investing in their communities and to empower and train younger generations in order to promote human capital development, economic growth, and improved living standards, particularly in rural areas.
In his remarks, the host, Chief James Ogba, who holds the traditional title Ebube Chukwu Uzo I of Amokwo, expressed gratitude to Governor Nwifuru for honoring his invitation and for supporting community-driven initiatives.
He said he remained deeply appreciative of God’s grace in his life and noted that helping others overcome challenges remains his guiding principle.
The event also doubled as a celebration of his mother’s 90th birthday. Chief Ogba described her longevity as a blessing, noting that despite her age, she remains active in cooking, farming, and worship.
His wife, Mrs. Lucy Ogba, also testified to their journey, revealing that the couple waited nine years after marriage before being blessed with children.
She encouraged others facing similar challenges to remain steadfast in faith.
She further described her mother-in-law’s 90th birthday as a divine privilege, praising her motherly role and praying for continued good health and long life.
Speaking at the event, prominent business figures including Chief Ifeanyi Orogwu (popularly known as “Baby-Oku”), Monday Nwokoye, and Gabriel Awoke described Chief Ogba as a visionary entrepreneur committed to the welfare of his people.
Others, including Meche White, Don Chris, and Chief Tochukwu Ogalegu (“T-Man”), also praised his contributions to human and infrastructural development, urging others to emulate his example.
In separate remarks, the celebrant’s in-law, Dr. Augustine Odanwu, and the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital City Development, Chief Sunday Inyima, described Chief Ogba and his wife as symbols of humility, discipline, and kindness.
They wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
Clergy from the Catholic Church, including priests from the Abakaliki Diocesan headquarters, conducted a special thanksgiving mass for the occasion.
The ceremony attracted political office holders, business leaders, community stakeholders, youth, and women groups who gathered at the celebrant’s newly completed modern residence along Omego Avenue, Amokwo, to celebrate with the family.
