Tenement Rate: “Defaulters to Face Legal Action” – HOD, Nwachukwu Ifeanyi

Ebonyi Commissioner for Capital City Development, Region and Planning, Hon Sunday Inyima has inaugurated task force team in charge of the collection of tenement rates in the state.

The state Commissioner while performing the exercise at the Abakaliki office called on house owners to cooperate with the team for effective job delivery.

However, the Head of Department tenement rates unit with the ministry, Mr Nwachukwu Ifeanyi Brown, has urged the general public to cooperate with recently inaugurated task force agents responsible for the collection of tenement rates.

Speaking to Journalists in Abakaliki following the inauguration of the tax force,the Head of Department, Mr Brown advised the public to refrain from physical confrontations with tax force agents and instead identify them through their uniforms.

He assured that the agents are well-informed and equipped to carry out their duties effectively.

“The tenement rate varies, depending on the type of building, ranging from ₦1,000 to ₦120,000.” Brown explained

He also underlined that individuals wearing the designated uniform are authorized members of the task force.

“In cases of non-compliance,legal action will be pursued, ensuring a peaceful resolution.”he further emphasized

Nwankwo Friday Darlington, a member of the task force, echoed his commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities as assigned.

He called upon the government to provide the necessary logistics and support to enable the smooth execution of their duties.
