NLC Nationwide Strike: Paralyzes National Assembly as Gates Remain Locked

The entrances to the National Assembly Complex in Abuja have been sealed by parliamentary workers who have joined the ongoing protests led by labor unions.

Despite a court order restraining the unions, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress declared a nationwide indefinite strike starting Tuesday. The unions had issued a strike notice last week in response to the assault on Joe Ajaero, the President of NLC, on November 1, 2023, in Imo State.

As of 12:23 pm on Tuesday, when SPRINGNEWS visited the National Assembly complex, all access points were locked. Numerous workers were stranded at the entrance, yet plenary sessions in the House of Representatives were reportedly continuing despite the lockdown.
