In a harrowing incident, eight individuals were kidnapped during a bandit raid on the Dan-Honu II community in New Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The victims include a newly married couple, the Imam of the community mosque, his wife, and three children, including a 10-month-old baby.
According to sources, approximately 10 armed bandits, some wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed the community at around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday night. Clad in black attire, with one masked assailant, the bandits initiated the abduction by targeting the Imam and his family outside the community Juma’at Mosque. They later proceeded to a four-flat compound where the newlywed couple resided.
One resident, Alhaji Mohammed, narrowly escaped abduction as the bandits forcibly took the Imam and his family. The assailants then targeted the new couple, breaking into Alhaji Mohammed’s residence and seizing the couple from their home.
The Imam, identified as Malam Suleiman, and his neighbor, Malam Musa, managed to escape while being led into the bush. Simultaneously, the newlywed wife, who had undergone recent surgery, was abandoned in the bush when she couldn’t keep up with the kidnappers’ pace. The Imam’s wife was also released when her baby’s cry drew the attention of vigilantes in the vicinity of Kakura.
However, the bandits successfully abducted the new husband, Ibrahim, and two of the Imam’s children (15-year-old Abba and his younger brother). As of the report, there has been no contact established with the victims’ families.
Imam Suleiman shared his terrifying ordeal, noting that two of the seven bandits were armed with AK-47 rifles, while others carried axes, machetes, and sticks.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansur Hassan, stated that the police are actively working to verify the accuracy of the incident’s details.
