Fubara Speaks Out: Pledges Unwavering Protection of Rivers People’s Interests

In response to the escalating political tensions in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has broken his silence. In a video posted on his official X handle on Friday, Governor Fubara assured the people of Rivers State that he remains committed to safeguarding their interests.

Expressing gratitude to the citizens of the state, Fubara pledged to lead an inclusive government that prioritizes justice and fairness for everyone. The video message comes at a time when political unrest has gripped Rivers State, marked by the resignation of several members of Fubara’s cabinet over the past two days. This development is believed to be linked to the governor’s ongoing dispute with his predecessor and Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike.

Furthermore, 27 members of the state assembly recently defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In response to the lawmakers’ defection, the Rivers State Government ordered the demolition of the Assembly Complex, citing the need to construct a suitable structure following an “arson attack” on the complex that occurred on October 29. The political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve amid these developments.
