Renowned Canadian singer Celine Dion is grappling with the challenges of Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare illness that has led to a loss of control over her muscles. The 55-year-old artist disclosed her diagnosis of this incurable disease in December 2022, shedding light on the condition that causes involuntary muscle tensing.
In a recent update on Celine’s health, her elder sister, Claudette Dion, shared insights with 7 Jours, as reported by Daily Mail. Claudette, aged 75, revealed that Celine is facing difficulties with muscle control, stating, “She’s working hard, but she no longer has control over her muscles. What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined.”
The distressing revelation comes months after Celine Dion’s announcement of her battle with SPS. In August 2023, Claudette Dion, during an interview with Le Journal de Montreal, had mentioned that Celine had not found any effective medication to combat the debilitating effects of Stiff Person Syndrome.
“Some people have lost hope because it’s all an illness that isn’t well known,” Claudette added, emphasizing the challenges that arise when dealing with a condition that lacks widespread understanding and effective treatment options.
