The 2023 Ngboejeogu Unity Cup tournament sponsored by the Ojichiaga Foundation and funded by the Deputy Speaker and member representing Ohaukwu South in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt Hon Chinedu Ogba Onah has been concluded with Umuezeaka Community football team emerging winner after beating thier Okposhieheku Community football team by two goals to one.
The Competition that ran through the past two weeks saw OkposhiEshi coming third out of the ten communities that participated in the tournament.
Speaking immediately after crowing the champion, the Chief Executive Officer of Ojichiaga Foundation and the Deputy Speaker in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt Hon Chief Chinedu Onah Commended the participating teams for the show of sportsmanship throughout the tournament and explained that the foundation is charity based, to help the windows, indigents and less privileged People’.
He said the foundation which sarted far back has been able to give out Scholarship to many students and then called on other philanthropy organization to come together in order to have a formidable force in the overall development of Ngboejeogu.
Also Speaking, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Richard Idike said the tournament was impressive and those talented players noticed shall be invited to showcase thier talent in February 2024 when Ebonyi Angels Football Club shall be reinvigorated.
In thier response, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation Hon Jude Chikadibia Okpor said the tournament has actually provided a unifying atmosphere and at the same time went in line with the developmental programmes of the State Government as regards the youths while the Commissioner for Environment Hon Victor Chukwu maintained that sports especially football gives health to enhance our enconomical level and Commended the organizer for the foresight in gainfully engaging youths
The Member representing Ishielu South and the Deputy Whip in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Lucas Arinze Chukwu who was marvelled at the display of talents by the participants while Rev Fr Peter Omogo, who kicked off the final match said that he intended to collaborate with Ojichiaga Foundation in the areas of human development in Ngbo land
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ocassion and Executive Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, Hon Chidiebere Uzor (Obosi) said the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedu Onah has really showed his affection for his constituents and Commended the participating teams for thier display of excellence.
Other diginiteries that watched the final match includes the member representing Ohaukwu/Ebonyi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze,his couterpart from Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency Rt Hon Comrade Chinedu Ogah represented by Hon Chinedu Nwali, the member Representing Ohaukwu North State Constituency Hon Mrs Esther Chidiebere Agwu, The Chairman Afikpo North Hon Uchenna Ibiam , the Director General ofojichiaga Foundation Chief Odanwu Kenneth represented by Mr Nduka Uba among others.
