Akpabio Emphasizes On The Need To Honor Fallen Heroes on Armed Forces Day

“Senate President Godswill Akpabio affirms the deserving honor and respect for Nigeria’s fallen heroes, as well as serving and retired military personnel. In a statement released on Monday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio emphasizes the need to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in maintaining peace and unity in the country.

Akpabio expresses gratitude for the profound commitment of the military personnel, highlighting the inherent challenges and risks they face to protect the nation. He asserts that every Nigerian owes a debt of gratitude to these individuals who have dedicated their lives to the defense of the country.

The statement reads, “Nigerians owe their fallen heroes, serving and retired military personnel, absolute honour, respect and, in fact, a debt of gratitude because it is not a fluke for people to offer their lives in defence of their countrymen and women to live in peace and harmony.”

Akpabio acknowledges that the sacrifices made by the military often go unnoticed and unappreciated, stressing the importance of consistently honoring and respecting those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. He extends this recognition to both active-duty personnel and retired veterans, affirming the commitment of the National Assembly, under his leadership, to prioritize and provide unwavering attention to the welfare of the Armed Forces.

“The military have been partners in the progress of defending the territorial integrity of the nation, maintaining peace and sustaining our cherished democracy. This is commendable,” he states in the release, assuring that the National Assembly will continue to prioritize the welfare of the Armed Forces.”
