EBHA Committee Urges Peace Amidst Chieftaincy Dispute in Onicha Community

The Chairman Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petition, Justice and Judiciary Hon Barr Innocent Chikaodili Nomeh has called on the people of Ukawu Community in Ukaba Development Center, Onicha LGA to maintain peace as the state House of Assembly is finding a lasting solution to the problem of Chieftaincy tuzzle in the area.

Hon Nomeh made this call while addressing different groups contesting the traditional ruler stool of Ukawu Community at House of Assembly Complex

The Committee Chairman who said as they investigate the petition written to the House by Ukawu Elders Forum, the Committee is determined to see Justice in all thier dealings.

Hon Barr Chikaodili Nomeh further stated that the State Goverrnor Rt Hon Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in ensuring peace and development in communities directed for installation of traditional rulers in the needed areas by the people to assist government in maintaining peace n the society.

He implored the people not to let the crises– be excalated as the Committee will study both the documents and oral presentations by both parties and come out with a lasting solution to the crises–

In thier separate speeches, Hon Alloysius Nwodo, Hon Obinna Mbam, Hon Kelvin Okeh and Hon Joseph Ununu expressed optimism that the situation will be brought under control through synergized efforts by the State House of Assembly and people of Ukawu and encouraged the contestants to put peace in front as the purse thier needs.

Speaking on behalf of Ukawu Elders Forum Dr Francis Ikele and DrJohn Elom of Ukawu Town Union said thier traditional ruler position is rotational and it’s for Amankpuma village but needed credible person inline with Ukawu Community Constitution.
