Ebonyi LG Election: Chairmen Gear up as Ikwo, Onicha LG Bosses Purchase Nomination Forms

Local government chairmen in Ebonyi State are gearing up for re-election campaigns ahead of the Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Among the council chairmen who recently purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest as Executive Chairmen of their councils are Barr. Sunday Nwankwo from Ikwo Local Government and Hon. Chidiebere Uzor Agwu (Obosi) from Onicha Local Government.

The purchase was made on Tuesday at the APC State Secretariat, International Conference, Abakaliki.

Addressing a crowd of stakeholders and supporters separately, the council chairmen expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity received, promising to deliver more democracy dividends to all communities in their councils.

Accompanied by stakeholders and supporters in Ikwo, Barr. Sunday Nwankwo had earlier been declared a consensus candidate by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whom he described as an act of God and a call for more service to the people.

He stressed on his commitment to serving the people and fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him.

Adding “i’m not in the Governor’s mind, but I do know ase a leader, I have tried to give the best to my People, because of the mandate I carry on my shoulders.

“I look at it as a sacred mandate, a mandate to serve , a mandate to do good, a mandate to agwo down a component of the peoples charter of needs to the nooks and cranny of Ikwo Local Government area,” he stated.

Similarly, the chairman of Onicha LGA, Hon. Chidiebere Uzor Agwu, thanked the people of Isu, Oshiri, Ukawu, and Abaomege for ceding the Chairmanship slot to Onicha Igboeze to enable him to complete his second tenure in line with zoning principles and rotational agreements within the council.

He praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for his leadership examples and monumental achievements in infrastructure and human empowerment, which served as motivations for his achievements in Onicha.

He also expressed gratitude to the stakeholders of the council for their support and goodwill and pledged to leave a lasting legacy in Onicha before the end of his second tenure.

He was accompanied to the APC Secretariat by the five Development Centre Coordinators in Onicha Local Government Area, Forum of Town and Development Unions, G-24 women, APC support groups in Onicha, supporters, and well-wishers.
