It was a day filled with joy, gratitude, and heartfelt celebration as Mr. and Mrs. Obasi Pascal dedicated their first son, Master Obasi Bryan Uzochukwu, to God in a solemn and spirit-led ceremony at the Assemblies of God Church, Azuiyiokwu, Abakaliki.
The dedication service brought together family, friends, church members, and dignitaries in a moving gathering marked by worship, thanksgiving, and fervent prayers. In a powerful dedication prayer, the officiating pastor consecrated the child to God, describing him as a divine gift not only to his family but to his community and generation.
Addressing the parents, the pastor emphasized the sacred responsibility of parenting. He urged Mr. and Mrs. Obasi to raise Bryan in a godly environment—one that fosters wisdom, character, and spiritual growth. While encouraging the couple to uphold godly values in nurturing their son.
Mrs. Obasi Queen Salome, filled with emotion, expressed profound gratitude to God for His faithfulness and the gift of motherhood.
“I feel deeply grateful to God to be a mother. This child is special. So many women are still waiting on God for their own children. That’s why we decided to sponsor a program—to seek God’s face on behalf of waiting mothers,” she said.
She continued with a heartfelt prayer, asking God to answer the cries of all expectant mothers. She also extended her appreciation to her family, friends, and the church community for their steadfast prayers and support, pledging to love, guide, and nurture Bryan throughout his life.
Mr. Pascal Obasi, beaming with joy, also gave thanks to God for a safe delivery and the gift of their son.
“This child is truly special. I’m glad he brought all these wonderful people together today, even dignitaries. It’s a great and unforgettable day,” he said.
Reflecting on the spiritual foundation of the event, Mr. Obasi shared that in appreciation to God for the arrival of the child, a special program was organized in the church, tagged ‘Zam Jehovah’.
“My prayer is that the same God who remembered me will remember others, whether you’re praying for a child, a car, or anything else. If you’re asking for a car, He will bless you with a fleet,” he declared.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Emeka Nwonu—also the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Pension Board—described the dedication as both symbolic and prophetic. Highlighting the significance of the date, he remarked:
“This is the first day of the month. It’s a sign that this child will always come first in everything he does. Everyone who came to celebrate with this family will also experience prosperity.”
The celebration was graced by several notable guests, including the Commissioner for Rural Health, Dr. Chris Achi, and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Achi; staff from the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki; and members of the Assemblies of God Church, Azuiyiokwu.
