Top Medical Experts offer Free Healthcare Services in Afikpo

Medical experts under the aegis of Medical Conference of Afikpo Medical & Dental Doctors, CAMD, have expressed commitment, towards providing free Healthcare services, to the people of Afikpo Local Government Area in particular and Ebonyi State in general.

The group stated this when it paid a Courtesy call on the Council boss of Afikpo L.G.A, Ebonyi State, Chief Timothy Nwachi, to discuss areas of collaboration with the Council.

CAMD members, comprise of over one hundred Medical & Dental Doctors, including four Professors of different Specialties of Medicine, over sixty Medical Consultants in various disciplines of Medicine & Surgery, Medical Elders and young Doctors at various stages of Postgraduate training and practice, both in Nigeria and overseas.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the CAMD, Prof. Henry C. Uro-chukwu stated that in the past years, CAMD has been organizing Medical outreaches free of charge and supporting in several Public Health emergencies.

He maintained that lifestyle modifications will be CAMD’s target as lots of non-communicable diseases have been traced to that.

He praised the efforts of Governor Francis Nwifuru, the Deputy Governor and the Executive Chairman for the infrastructural facelift in Afikpo.

He equally thanked the Hon Minister of Works, HE Senator Engr. David Umahi, for the Ndibe Beach Bridge construction and for the dualizing various roads including Afikpo Okigwe and Afikpo Abakaliki roads, which he attracted from the Federal Government.

The Chairman of CAMD pledged the readiness of the Medical community to support all the grassroots development and sustained peace in the LGA.

He further pleaded with the Executive Chairman to support these ventures by reducing the financial burden on procurement of Medical products and consumables, as members are willing to render their skilled services free of charge.

Welcoming the group in his office at the Council Headquarters, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo L.G.A, Chief Timothy Nwachi expressed willingness and total commitment towards ensuring a sustainable partnership, in so many areas with CAMD.

He assured that his administration will galvanize the support of the Development Centre Coordinators in the LGA, under the Charter of Needs Agenda of Governor Francis O. Nwifuru, to partner with CAMD, other organizations, including, Community-Based Organizations and International Development Partners to deepen the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government in the Health Sector.

He urged all CAMDites to be ready to give more than ever before and give back to the Society as “Afikpo remains our common heritage,”.
