The youth of Ishielu Local Government Area have vehemently rejected recent rumors circulating on social media, suggesting that stakeholders are advocating for the local government chairmanship position to be allocated to the Ezzzagu Zone.
In a press briefing held in Abakaliki, the state capital, the Special Assistant to the Ishielu Local Government Chairman on Youth Mobilization, Egbe Chinoso Stephen, who is also a former Assembly aspirant, addressed the allegations.
He urged the public to disregard the misinformation and called for responsible reporting from the media.
“The reports claiming that stakeholders are pushing for the chairmanship to shift to Ezzzagu Zone are entirely false and misleading,” Mr. Egbe stated.
“Mrs. Agwu Ifeoma Peace, our current local government chairman, has shown exemplary leadership and should be allowed to complete her second term without unnecessary distractions.”
He further emphasized the importance of unity within the local government area, encouraging all stakeholders to support Mrs. Agwu and to maintain the peace and harmony that Ishielu has enjoyed.
Mr. Egbe also reached out to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Chapter, urging them to take a stand against media outlets that propagate false narratives, which he believes incite unrest and disrupt community relations.
“We must work together to foster a conducive atmosphere for development, and this starts with ensuring accurate and responsible journalism,” he concluded.
The local government’s youth have rallied behind their chair, reinforcing the message that only through collective support can the community continue to thrive.
