Political stakeholders and community leaders in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and their own incumbent council chairman, Mrs. Peace Agwu.
The unanimous endorsement was cemented during a road walk staged across the council area, where thousands of residents and party faithful converged to publicly demonstrate their call for the continuity of the current leadership, citing what they described as “excellent leadership and tangible development.”
Addressing the gathering, the Ishielu Council Chairman, Mrs. Peace Agwu, lauded the organisers for the and seized the opportunity to commend Governor Nwifuru’s administration for the massive infrastructural drive across the state, particularly in Ishielu.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, has done wonderfully well, especially in Ishielu local government; he has done it across the state, but in Ishielu, it’s massive,” Mrs. Agwu stated passionately.
She pointed out specific projects, including the construction of over 23 kilometres of roads in Ezza Ezillo, which she credited with bringing “permanent peace” to the area.
She also pointed to the initiation of two kilometres of roads in each traditional ruler’s palace, modern duplexes for the monarchs, and the construction of 144 bungalows in the Amaeze community, as compelling reasons for the people’s admiration and endorsement.
Mrs. Agwu also extended gratitude to President Tinubu for the ongoing construction of a dual-carriage road passing through the council, noting its critical role not just as a piece of infrastructure but as a key driver for economic growth in both Ebonyi State and the entire Southeast region.
Echoing the call for continuity, Hon. Agwu Uchenna, the coordinator of the ‘Alife Men for FON’ group, described the movement as a crucial step for peace and progress. “A good tenure deserves another,” he declared, appealing directly to the council chairman to accept the call for a second term in the service of humanity.
Chief Ali O. Daniel, a critical stakeholder and former board member of the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC), framed the endorsement as a historic moment.
“We can never look for the best when excellence is what is needed. Our chairman is excellent, our governor is excellent, and our president is excellent. The reward for good governance is more tenure and continuity,” Chief Daniel asserted. “We are here to enthrone peace and love, and we are appealing to the chairman to come again for another tenure.”
The motion was wholeheartedly supported by other key figures present, including the All Progressives Party (APC) chairman for Ishielu local government, Mr. Abah Ikechukwu, the council’s vice chairman, Mrs. Philomina Ekechi, and the secretary, Mrs. Bridget Nwafor, who all joined the chorus for the reelection of the endorsed leaders.
