The Director of Media and Publicity of the Anyi Ga Emeya Movement, the political group that championed the election of High Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Moses Idika, has urged the public to disregard the purported suspension of some PDP members in Ebonyi State.
In a statement signed by Idika on behalf of the movement, he maintained that there is currently no functional State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP in Ebonyi State, as the congress that produced the committee was nullified by a Federal High Court judgment in suit no. FHC/AI/CS/183/2024, delivered on November 11, 2024.
He further noted that another judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in suit no.FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025, delivered on October 31, 2025, reaffirmed the nullification of the said congress and the expulsion of former Southeast Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa, from the PDP.
“The public should ignore the purported suspension of PDP leaders in Ebonyi State,” Idika said, describing those behind the announcement as faceless individuals without any legal standing in the party.
According to the statement:“the attention of the PDP in Ebonyi State has been drawn to a statement purportedly signed by a faceless individual parading as ‘Publicity Secretary, PDP Ebonyi,’ claiming that top party leaders including the 2023 governorship candidate, High Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, his deputy, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, Rt. Hon. Solomon Onwe, the Southeast National Vice Chairman, Hon. Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, former Legal Adviser, Chief Mudi Erhenede, and others have been suspended.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP in Ebonyi State presently has no State Working Committee and, therefore, cannot take any decision on behalf of the party. The kangaroo congress organized by former Southeast Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa, was quashed by a well-considered judgment in suit no. FHC/AI/CS/183/2024.”
Idika added that the Ebonyi PDP is working closely with the National Working Committee (NWC) to fix an appropriate date for a legitimate state congress as directed by the court.
Reacting also, the immediate past Legal Adviser of the party in the state, Chief Mudi Erhenede, described the purported suspension as “contempt of court.”
He said:“They don’t even exist in law, talk more of carrying out any action. The judgment of the Federal High Court is clear—it nullified all the purported congresses they conducted. The so-called Publicity Secretary has no legal standing. I have directed my office to serve them Forms 48 and 49 for contempt of court.”
Erhenede mocked the group for even misspelling his name in their release, calling their action “pure madness.”
It would be recalled that a statement earlier circulated online claimed that the Ebonyi PDP had suspended six prominent members of the party, including the 2023 governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, his running mate, Senator Igwe Nwagu, Rt. Hon. Solomon Onwe, Barr. Mudi Erhenede, Mr. Chidiebere Egwu, and Mr. Moses Idika.
