Arsenal have completed the signing of former Real Madrid captain Misa Rodriguez on a free transfer, bolstering their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Spanish international joins the Gunners after leaving Real Madrid at the expiration of her contract, becoming the club’s seventh signing of the summer as manager Renée Slegers continues to strengthen her squad.

Rodriguez arrives in North London with a wealth of experience, having made 215 appearances for Real Madrid and earned 24 senior caps for Spain. Her arrival is expected to provide Arsenal with greater depth, leadership and competition between the posts.

The 27-year-old will compete for the number one spot alongside Daphne van Domselaar, Anneke Borbe and Isabella Damm, giving Slegers increased options as Arsenal prepare for a demanding domestic and European campaign.

Rodriguez joins a busy summer recruitment drive that has also seen Arsenal add Isabella Damm, Georgia Stanway, Geraldine Reuteler, Selina Cerci, Ona Batlle and Lisa Baum to the squad.

The move also highlights Arsenal’s strategic approach in the transfer market, with Rodriguez among five players signed on free transfers this summer as the club combines quality recruitment with financial prudence.

With the addition of the experienced Spanish goalkeeper, Arsenal have further reinforced their squad as they aim to challenge for major honours in the new season.
