The Obidients Movement has launched a scathing response to former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, after he dismissed the Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket, insisting the former Kano governor lacks the credibility to question the achievements of the opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general election.
The exchange follows Ganduje’s assertion that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso is “dead on arrival,” arguing that neither politician possesses the leadership credentials or political legacy required to win the presidency in 2027.
Reacting to the remarks, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, said Ganduje was in no position to assess the records of Obi and Kwankwaso, citing what he described as their enduring legacies in public office.
Tanko praised Obi’s stewardship as governor of Anambra State, maintaining that the former governor left office with ₦75 billion in the state’s coffers despite having the opportunity to misappropriate public funds.
“I don’t know why people still take Ganduje seriously. He has no credibility to challenge somebody who left ₦75 billion in the coffers of Anambra State.
“Despite having the opportunity to loot that particular money, he did not. Can you compare him with somebody who has been accused of stashing dollars in his pocket with a proven video? So where lies his credibility?” he said.
The Obidient leader also highlighted Kwankwaso’s record as governor of Kano State, pointing to major infrastructure projects, including the construction of the state’s iconic octopus bridge, as well as education initiatives that sponsored students abroad and produced professionals in fields such as aviation, engineering and healthcare.
According to Tanko, the achievements of both Obi and Kwankwaso remain visible years after they left office, making attempts to portray them as lacking leadership credentials unsustainable.
He further dismissed Ganduje’s criticism as politically motivated, insisting that the growing acceptance of Obi across the country reflects the confidence many Nigerians have in his leadership.
Tanko added that support for the Obidient Movement continues to expand organically, particularly in Kano and other parts of the country, arguing that the movement is driven by citizens who believe in Obi’s vision rather than political patronage.
