The visit of Ebonyi State Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Her Excellency Princess Patricia Obila, to Ikwo LGA for the official flag-off of the forthcoming Council Election was marked by a festive atmosphere, drawing political bigwigs from Ikwo Noyo Clan and beyond.
Supporters of Governor Nwifuru and the APC turned out in overwhelming numbers, seen as a testament to the Governor’s grassroots support in Ikwo LGA.
However, notable by his absence was Rt. Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah, the federal lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency.
His non-appearance at what has been described as a historic rally in the State has sparked varied reactions among political observers.
Attendees at the rally expressed surprise and curiosity about Ogah’s absence, especially given his presence in the area on that day.
Speculations abound regarding the reasons behind his no-show, with some suggesting it signals a rift within the APC in the area.
Stakeholders, speaking anonymously, implied that Ogah’s absence might be linked to disagreements over the endorsement of the current Council Chairman, Barr Sunday Basil Nwankwo, for a second term.
They urged all APC stakeholders in Ikwo LGA, including Ogah, to unite and collaborate for the area’s development and the party’s success in future elections.
Efforts to reach Comrade Chinedu Ogah and Council Chairman Hon. Barr Sunday Nwankwo for comments on Ogah’s absence were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
