Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North, has received strong backing from the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and key stakeholders following an extensive project inspection tour across the senatorial district.

Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, APC State Chairman, representing Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, expressed surprise and satisfaction at the sheer scale of projects completed by the Senator in less than four years.

“I came thinking we were just inspecting a few projects, but I am moved by the sheer scale from buildings and roads to boreholes. The reward for good work is more work. If he has achieved this much in less than four years, it shows he was the right choice for the party,” Chief Okoro-Emegha said.

Highlighting Nwebonyi’s dedication, he added: “We have been on the road since 8:00 AM and have only covered two local governments because the projects are so numerous. I make bold to say he is the only Senator truly representing his people in this capacity. For Senator Nwebonyi, his performance has earned him a blank check to continue.”

Senator Nwebonyi, while detailing his legislative philosophy, emphasized the importance of tangible development. “If laws do not produce solutions for the people, they are ‘beautiful nonsense.’ Beyond the Senate chamber, we use zonal intervention projects to fill gaps left by the federal and state governments,” he said.

The Senator outlined key achievements including: Agricultural empowerment: 300 motorcycles distributed to rural farmers.

Youth empowerment of over 70 tricycles (Keke NAPEPs) and more than 50 mini-buses provided. Construction of durable concrete roads designed to last 60–70 years. Primary schools built and equipped, solar streetlights installed, houses for the poor provided, and a motorized borehole commissioned.

Senator Nwebonyi further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructural projects in the Southeast, including the Second Niger Bridge, dualization of the Enugu-Abakaliki-Onitsha roads, and the Coastal Road project, urging massive support in the 2027 elections.

Hon. Joseph Ununu, Deputy Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Works, described the projects as setting unprecedented standards. “The era of politics without results is over. The bar has been set so high that others cannot match it,” he said.

Hon. Chidi Ogbonna, Coordinator of Omenyi Development Centre, emphasized that the Senator’s projects are tangible and complete, leaving no room for “audio projects.”

Traditional rulers, led by HRH Eze Sunday Nkwegu Oketa and HRH Peter Ukpamazi, commended the Senator for aligning his vision with Governor Nwifuru’s “People’s Charter of Needs,” while party stakeholders, including Mr. Matthew Uguru from the Office of the National Treasurer, pledged continued support.

The inspection and commissioning exercise covered key projects across Abakaliki, Izzi, and Ebonyi local government areas, including:

Abakaliki LGA include; Mechanic Site/Motorcycle Spare Parts Market (Obama Road), Otam Edda Primary School, Omege–Okpitumo Road,Solar streetlights from Onuebonyi to Iboko.

In Izzi LGA the APC women leader’s house at Oferekpe Agbaja was commissioned, Community Primary School, Mkpuma Ekwaoku,Igbuphu Road and Ekweburu–Edukwu Achi Road – Inspection.

And in Ebonyi LGA, the Obegu/Isophumini Road was commissioned, the 15km Ogbutaruoku/Uloanwu/Ephoenyim Road was inspected, motorized borehole at Ohagelode was commissioned and the Uloanwu and Ndiechi Primary Schools.

The Senator’s tour did not include Ohaukwu LGA due to stakeholder engagements on Easter Tuesday, with plans to commission projects there at a later date.

The extensive support from both party leaders and community stakeholders signals a strong mandate for Nwebonyi’s continued leadership in Ebonyi North.
